The intern will join the Building Resilient Futures team (based in Washington, DC) that works to tackle the root causes of climate change through this lens, working with the sub-group that oversees the Enterprise Green Communities Criteria affordable housing green certification program. You will work to support the certification process, on policy advocacy to promote the program’s use, and supporting the creation of educational materials.

Esplanade Association

The Esplanade Association is seeking a Social Media and Communications Intern who will play a key role in supporting our marketing and communications efforts. You will work with the External Relations Manager to create engaging content, manage social media channels, and assist with various communications tasks. This role will expose you to the digital and physical world of marketing for Boston nonprofits.

Goodwin Simon Strategic Research

Goodwin Simon Strategic Research is an independent opinion research firm based in California, with remote staff across the U.S. The firm’s partners and research directors bring more than 75 years of experience in polling, social and political marketing, and strategic communications to clients in the political, public, and private sectors. The intern will become familiar with and learn basic skills associated with conducting qualitative and quantitative public opinion research. Tasks include working with research associates in preparing PowerPoint presentations for clients, preparing documents for data analysis, proofreading research and client documents, conducting background research, and other responsibilities. The intern will also work in community with interns from other institutions in an established communal learning environment, even as the intern will be expected to work independently and to be a self-starter. Whenever possible, GSSR also makes other learning and observational training opportunities available to its interns as well.

Moonslinger Productions

Creative-led TV/film production company (projects have included Pachinko, for Apple TV+) seeking professional and detail-oriented intern.

  • This is a remote opportunity—team is bicoastal between NYC and LA.
  • Responsibilities include in-depth research for projects in development, close reading and breakdowns of current project materials, close reading and coverage of submissions, managing tracking grids, and additional projects as needed.
  • Looking for someone organized, discreet, thorough, a go-getter, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and seamlessly. Passion for international projects, book adaptations, and foreign remakes is valuable.

Murray Bookchin Archive

Deborah Bookchin is organizing the papers and interview transcripts of Murray Bookchin (1921-2006), to present a narrative of his life. A research assistant’s activities would include:

  • Reviewing the published work of Bookchin’s 300 essays, most of which are organized chronologically, but which need to be checked against a bibliography of his work.
  • Organizing and cataloging other materials such as previously unpublished writing and notes.
  • Researching related social and historical forces that influenced his thinking such as which radical philosophers informed his social theory and which correspondents he engaged with as he evolved his ideas.
  • Listening to interviews while viewing computer generated transcripts and correcting errors.
  • Cataloging these materials, and engaging in fact-checking of some statements against the historical record.

The goal is to assist Deborah in completing a chronology of his life and ideas, told in part through his own words. The position would appeal to anyone who is interested in left social theory, archival sciences, climate change, and the history of organizing around the importance of ecological social theory. It would involve a period of on-site work in Albany, NY and could be continued remotely if initial cataloging is completed during the internship.
