Another slideshow attraction

The NY Times and BBC both have slideshows worth checking out. The one in the Times, part of their Lens photography blog, features photographs of natural history museum items in places other than their typical displays. The photo detail above comes from #6 in the slideshow (though I’m partial to shot #2).

Far more serious is the slideshow from the BBC showing some of the impact of the ongoing drought in the Turkana region of Kenya. This is an area that has a long history of paleoanthropological work and, although the area is pretty remote, has seen many a paleoanthropologist and paleoanthropology student pass through.

About Adam Van Arsdale

I am biological anthropologist with a specialization in paleoanthropology. My research focuses on the pattern of evolutionary change in humans over the past two million years, with an emphasis on the early evolution and dispersal of our genus, Homo. My work spans a number of areas including comparative anatomy, genetics and demography.
