Speaking of human genetics…

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has thrown out a lower court ruling allowing human genes to be patented, a topic of enormous interest to cancer researchers, patients and drug makers.

This will not be the end of the legal wrangling about genetic ownership. Students are always fascinated to hear how much of their genome is potentially subject to U.S. patent law.
