After writing the post on the Pawpaw plant, I realized I really want to tell you guys a bit more about the Edible Ecosystem. Located on the slope below the Whitin Observatory, the Edible Ecosystem Teaching Garden (EETG) is a designed plant community that mimics the properties of a natural ecosystem but produces food and other products useful to humans (specifically, students!) with a minimum of maintenance.
For me, it has served so many purposes- from a space to decompress to a place to pick the finishing herbs for a dish my friend and I have made on a slow Sunday evening, the EETG is definitely one of (if not, my ultimate) favorite spot on the Wellesley campus. Below are a few plants that are currently blooming, but it doesn’t even begin to capture the variety and beauty of the space in its entirety.
