Good morning blog! Spooky Season has officially come to a close and, while Halloweekend was incredible, I am completely drained after non-stop spookiness. This was my first and last weekend off for a while, so I needed to make the most of it. I tried to cram in as much as possible: Shabbat services, Munger Mash, an ungodly amount of homework, trick-or-treating around campus, listening to Christmas carols at 2 am, mock trial workshops, and watching Frozen 2 (because a movie like that is always in season). Munger Mash is a huge Halloween party put on by Munger hall every year. They have music, dancing, and apparently a lot of chicken nuggets. The entire three days felt like a non-stop sprint, but nonetheless exciting. By the end of the weekend, I was more tired than I was when it started.
No rest for the weary though! I have two midterms this week (the same two as last week, but I got an extension) and then a paper due on Monday. On top of that, we just restacked teams for mock trial so all old teams were dissolved and rearranged to give us the best chance of reaching nationals. I found my forever home on Team Stop (it’s an arson case so our teams are named Stop, Drop and Roll. We think we are very funny, but feel free to disagree). It’s a lot of work because most of the material I used prior has gone out the window. Did I mention we have another invitational this weekend that I need to be 100% prepared for? Its fine. Everything is fine here.
Weeks like this are standard at Wellesley, but not constant. Part of what I both love and struggle with here is the challenging course load. Figuring out where to prioritize, what to let slide, and what needs to be done right now is not a skill that comes easily, but I’m getting better. I have found the best thing I can do is make sure I am eating enough, sleeping enough, and taking plenty of quick breaks in between hard study sessions. It doesn’t hurt that the trees have been looking particularly dazzling as of late. Don’t worry, I attached plenty of photo evidence for your perusal.
Wish me luck,
Jessie
