Highs and Low Temperatures

Hello Blog!

This past week has been a bit of a whirlwind. My Google Calendar has had very few vacant blocks, which is just a testament to how quickly the semester begins! All of my classes are in full swing, my music rehearsals and lessons have begun, and I’m back to working in the Admission Office (giving tours!). Here’s a brief overview of some highlights:

  • My friend Anna and I snuck into Northeastern to see Lucy Dacus give a private acoustic concert. It was genuinely one of the best concerns I’ve ever been to. There was no huge soundsystem, so we all just sat in the auditorium and hummed along. We also got to see the first live performance ever of True Blue, a song off of the new boygenius album. To end a perfect night, we got the most delicious noodles and boba.
  • It was so cold. This is where the title of this blog comes in. This past weekend, the temperatures with wind chill were in the negative thirties! I very much stayed in. When it had warmed up a bit, my friends and I went to do some grocery shopping, but our car broke down… This was obviously not an ideal situation given the still cold temperatures, but a very kind person helped us jump our car so we could get back to campus safely.
  • There are Grillos pickles in the dining hall. I was eating dinner with my friend Kathryn on Wednesday, when I decided to get some pickles from the sandwich bar. I am very particular about my pickles, and so is Kathryn. Our preferred brand of pickles is Grillos, and we were delighted to find that these Wellesley pickles tasted very much like our favorite brand! I texted the dining hall manager (something that you can do at any time), and our suspicions were confirmed.
  • Today is unseasonably warm! My roommate and I are going to see a comedy play in Boston this evening and then getting dessert at our favorite frozen yogurt spot near the Harvard bus stop afterwards. We’ve been eating this frozen yogurt all winter, but it will be nice to eat it at temperatures above freezing.

The Office of Admission is opening up for in-person tours this semester, and I’m giving my first tour on Monday! Stop by and say hi!!

Until next time,
