Hi! I’m New! :)

Starting off honestly, I’ve been trying to write this blog post for a couple of hours. I want to seem friendly and approachable, but also informative – and I’m trying to be informative without being pedantic. I want you guys to read this and be inspired to come to Wellesley (a place I already love so much!), like I was after reading Eleanor’s blog for about three years (shout-out to Eleanor, who just graduated and I’m not sure will read this, your blog was 10/10 would recommend). I was going to write in more formal style, but I want to have fun instead.

So… hi, guys!

My name is Allyse, and I’m a first-year here at Wellesley College. I’m from Miami, Florida, so the “cold” (only around sixty degrees!) weather is already getting to me. I think I’m going to be a computer science major, but obviously that could change real quick considering I only got here about a month ago; and it doesn’t come naturally to me! I really like the subject, my teachers, and the challenges, but sometimes it takes me a bit longer to understand. I’m honestly a little more of a writing person… and yet I’m drawn to CS – it’s just so cool!

I’m planning about blogging all about balancing work-study and homework and everything else in between. I’ll endeavor to make my posts a little longer so I can tell you guys more about life here (and flex my writing muscles, which I must admit are getting rusty).

I’m sure after this is posted I’ll think of so many more things I want to say, but I think this is a good start. For now, I’ll leave you will a cool playlist that I listened to alllll through my crazy summer (possibly more on that later?) and amazing pictures of the scenery around Lake Waban, which I had the pleasure of walking around on Saturday.

The leaves are so pretty! We don’t get this in Miami.

This dog had a pal who splashed everyone when he jumped in the lake! I want to pet every dog I see, but I’d be out there all afternoon!
