Beijing Brunch and other cross cultural experiences

My first week in Beijing is already over! Time flies when you’re running around a foreign country;)

My internship is SO MUCH FUN! I’m working for an expat magazine called City Weekend and so far I’ve traveled all over Beijing finding new shops and restaurants and writing reviews of them. This weekend, I visited a Tibetan Yogurt shop and enjoyed free yogurt and great company, while learning more about Tibet than I ever knew before.

I also went out to brunch at my favorite American/European pub style restaurant from last semester, which I now live way closer to than I did when I was at CET. (Good things!)

I also met up with my roommate from CET, a native of Kunming named Xiaoxiao. We grabbed dinner together at a great little Sichuan style restaurant (super spicy Chinese food). Afterwards, we wandered around a mall together and looked at cute things like baby shoes. (We’re weirdos.)

And finally, on Sunday night, I met up with a friend of mine who owns a tea shop in Beijing. He and his family took me out to dinner with some other friends and we had a wonderful evening of cultural exchange.

It’s been a successful week! Here’s to nine more!!!
