I have now participated in my first collegiate track meet!!! It was so wonderful:) I LOVE track. <3
Our first meet (this past weekend) was at Mount Holyoke College. I ran the 4X100 (100 meter relay), the 100 hurdles, and the 4X400 (400 meter relay). The 4X100 was really cool because I’d never run that event before. I was kind of nervous about the baton hand off, but it went pretty well:)
My main event is definitely the hurdles. I had a pretty good race for my first meet. I even broke Wellesley’s 100 hurdle record! Breaking Wellesley’s record had kind of been my goal for the season, so now I need a new goal lol. I can’t wait to keep improving. We have such wonderful coaches. I can’t believe how much stronger and faster I am already. With weight training three times a week, I’ve never been so strong in my life!
In other news, I had my Chinese midterm on Monday. I was really nervous for it but I think it went well. It feels awesome to be done with it. I studied a lot over the weekend. My favorite study location was definitely the dock of the boathouse. It was so nice out on Sunday that a couple teammates and I went to the dock to hang out and do homework. It was wonderfully sunny but a little chilly because of the wind. Here’s a picture of my track captain, Zoe, staying warm:
She put her coat on her legs haha! Also, there’s me in the yellow sweatshirt with my Chinese textbook in my lap! I thought this was a cute picture:)
I’m getting a little nervous for this weekend but I can’t wait! Our meet is in Springfield at American International College. I will hopefully have some pictures to post. You can also follow the Wellesley Cross Country and Track and Field page on Facebook for lots of wonderful pictures and updates!
P.S. Here’s a video of the hurdle race from last weekend. I’m the one in blue who finished third. (Shameless self promotion! I’m sorry!)
