Wintersession Training

Our first week of training was a success! I got my PR (stands for ‘personal record’) in both the 600 meter dash and the 200 meter dash on Saturday at our meet. I am excited to keep working my times down. My goal is to qualify for some post-season meets in the 600.

Wellesley is not quite a winter wonderland yet, but it is slowly getting there. Early last week there was a bit of snow that stuck. Enough to make a snowman! This week looks to have more snow in the forecast!

As a team, last week, we went to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. This is a really cool museum that was actually the house of this women Isabella Stewart Gardner. She was very wealthy, bought a huge house, and filled it with her art collection. When she died she stated in her will that the house was to be a museum and everything was to be displayed just as she left it. So it is a museum but set up like a house. I found it to be very interesting. The center of the building has a beautiful courtyard. This is the only place where photos were allowed so, of course, I took a bunch! Here’s a really nice shot of the southern wall of the courtyard.

This week, on Wednesday, the team will be going to the Boston Science Museum, which I am SUPER excited about. I’m sure I’ll have a fun report after that.

For now, it’s back to training! (One more week ’til school begins!)

Peace.
