Ode to a Hectic Week

Hello again everyone!

As you know you follow my hectic life as a Swells (nickname for Wellesley) senior.

So… this is what my week's to do list looked like
– Teaching Lab: Lesson- Roman Republic
– Readings: Psych, Bio, Educ, CAMS
– House Council
– Dower Hour: Spa Night
– MAJOR CONFIRMATION
– Fulbright Interview
– FINISH Human Bio Lab Report
– Unity
– First Day of LGR (Let's Get Ready)
– Call Parents so they know I am alive

That's not even all of my week. I know it sounds insane doesn't it? And yes….sometimes my life is insane. BUT in all honesty… I LOVE IT. I love the fact that I am busy, I love the fact that I have something to do ALL THE TIME. It just means I can't afford to procrastinate (even though I still do that ANYWAYS) or just not as much.

So a little about my to do list… As you know, I am an HP (House President) of Dower, which is a small house of 44 residents who are mostly first-years. Being an HP really means that most of my life and my time is dedicated to Residential Life, dedicated to making student's living experience better. House Council is a weekly leadership council where we discuss house issues and things that are happening in the college. It may sound boring but really… I think I make it a lot of fun. 🙂 We always do an interesting icebreaker and I try to make everything more amusing. This week all of the house council members learned something new about each and every member there. For example… back in high school I was both Spring Fling Queen and Student Body President (not at the same exact time but within the 4 years I was in HS), thats a fact a lot of people don't know about me. I also learned that one of my residents was born with her amniotic sac in tact. Isn't that INSANE? whoa…. anyways. The things I learn. Unity is another group I participate in as an HP. It's a meeting between student leaders on campus and Wellesley administrators. We talk about plans for the college, potential plans for the future, and work on improving Wellesley life in general. We're talking about a student initiative called Real World Wellesley which is a series of events for themed for each month on a variety of topics that WELLESLEY WOMEN should be able to do BEFORE they graduate. For example… This month is Safety Month and we're going to emphasize safety tips for partying and drinking, safety on the web, safety on campus, etc. (PS. WE GOT AN AWESOME UNITY SHIRT OUT OF IT THAT SAYS I <3 WELLESLEY ON THE SLEEVES!! YAYAYAYAY!!!!) Anyways… thats enough of my job as an HP for this week.

Dower
YUP THAT IS RIGHT. I LOVE THE PURPLE CLASS OF 2014. and yes.. this consumes my LIFE.

LETS TALK ABOUT BEING A SENIOR. OMGOODNESSSSSSSS.

Major confirmations. I left this to last minute and I ran around the polisci department for a whole day trying to get signatures. I went from one person to another. Waited creepily around for the right professor to pop out of their rooms so they can sign my forms. I am such a creeper sometimes. BUT at least I got them all signed and turned in. WHEW, what a close one! Never leave ANYTHING last minute or else it'll bite you in the BUTT.

Fulbright Interviews: So… I am applying for a Fulbright scholarship to teach English abroad. If you guys don't know already, I am an education minor and I am working towards getting certified to teach history in MA. BUT I went abroad to Korea for a semester and I loved it. I can't wait to go back. I think about it all the time. (I'll talk more about my abroad experience another time). So… long story short, I applied for a teaching assistantship abroad in South Korea and this week was INTERVIEW week. CAN I JUST SAY I HAVE THE WORST LUCK IN THE WORLD? I dressed up nicely in a nice button down shirt, cute flats, and a nice high waisted skirt.. UHM well.. it started TO POUR on my way to my interview. THANK YOU WEATHER. Luckily I had an umbrella… but that didn't save my beautiful suede flats that I ABSOLUTELY love. MAJOR FAIL. Anyways… interviews went well or at least I think they did. They critiqued my essays and application and told me where I could improve it. Getting feedback is always intimidating.

Korea
Really the epitome of my Korea experience. This is what I think about. AND YES THAT IS ME PEACE SIGNING IT UP. don't judge, you'd do it too if you were there.

Anyways… that has been my week. Crazy, insane, busy, chaotic. BUT in the end… I am happy. And really guys lets be honest, that is ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS.

Until next time,

<3 Always,
CHL
