SENi0R YEAR iS HERE!!

I’m Dani and I’m a green class of 2013 senior at Wellesley. I blogged for the admissions office all last year, and I’m honored to get to continue.

I’m also stoked.

Being a senior, I have so many exciting things going on that I hardly know where to begin. I had some trepidation about writing again this year because I thought my posts would be redundant, but with senior thesis projects, job searches, 300-level  seminars, and plenty to do outside of school, I am pretty sure I can keep it interesting.

To start off, I found this picture in the Wellesley online photo archives.
The caption? ‘A senior’s equipment’

It’s tough for me to pick a favorite part of this photo.

I decorated my Big’s hoop and camped out for her during Wellesley’s tradition of hoop rolling. As a frisbee player, I can relate to the rivalry tag, “BETTER DEAD THAN CRIMSON”, which refers to another of the Seven Sisters. Being a Latin scholar, I certainly had a double take at the “Adeste Infideles” pin (Come all ye unfaithful) and there’s even a pin that says, “What’s a Derby Day?”. (You could say about Wellesley that the closest we get to Greek life would be a production of Oedipus Rex).

Perhaps my favorite part is the simple fact that this photo, dated 1972, could just as easily be in color and dated 2013. I love the rich history and tradition of Wellesley and pretty soon I’ll be the one rolling my hoop down Tupelo lane.
