From Scotland to Sweden – Best Year of My Life

Hello~!

So much has happened since I last wrote you! Ha this seems to be the norm now.

Let me tell you everything!

Last Wednesday, my two new friends scooped me from Edinburgh after they left Glasgow in the morning, and we drove to Dunbar, where we visited JOHN MUIR’S birthplace!! Ah!

Here are Mike and Brian’s failed jump shot attempts (though I spy one or two good ones) haha:

They’re also Americans, and in their mid-20’s, on a road trip around the UK for a sales/marketing job with their travel company, but in their spare time they get to sightsee. πŸ˜€

We visited Dunbar, Newcastle, and Durham together! It was great fun. Then they dropped me off back in Oxford and we ate at the Eagle and Child, which is where Tolstoy and CS Lewis and the likes (their writing club was called the Inklings I think) used to write and meet regularly!

And NOW I am actually off to my next adventure! Ha πŸ˜€ Less than 48 hours after I’d arrived back in Oxford, I booked tickets to Stockholm!! I’ll be leaving this Friday (the 8th) and returning on the 16th–meanwhile I’ll be spending my 21st birthday in Sweden!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’ll also be visiting friends that I haven’t seen in THREE years! (I think that’s the longest I’ve gone without seeing any of my friends, ever!) Here’s the story: In summer of 2013, I visited my family in HangZhou, China for about a month. During that time, I became friends with 5 Swedish exchange students at Zhe Jiang University, where my aunt is a professor! We hung out a few times in HangZhao and in Beijing, too. And we haven’t seen each other since! But we’ve managed to stay in touch via Facebook! It’s times like these when I really am grateful for social media sites…

And thus, I shall spend my 21st birthday reuniting with these friends whom I haven’t seen in ages!! It should be SO much fun. Can’t wait to tell you all about it!!

Until then!!

~Emsies

P.S. Ever since I came to Oxford–this has definitely been the best year of my life so far! I’ve gotten to do SO much traveling and make SO many new friends and see and try SO many new things!!! I really am beside myself with happiness.
