The Picturesque Oxford Experience

I’m going to do my usual post of a bunch of pictures separated by captions πŸ˜€ Hope you enjoy this insight into this particular week of my time at Oxford!

This is my favorite view in Oxford: just walking down High Street (the main street in town) and seeing the University Church :’)

And this is my second favorite street in Oxford, Holywell Street. I just love all the different colored houses ^_^

This is the opposite view down High Street–that’s Magdalen Tower in the back!

Oh oh oh AND my flatmates and I went punting (where you push a boat along the river using a huge, long pole that reaches the riverbed beneath your boat) for the first time!! Super old Ox tradition, everyone does it in third term (which is right now):

They were afraid of the ducks haha:

Ah and then more pictures of Holywell and Longwall Street (the street that leads to Holywell :))

IMG_1494 IMG_1496

Oh! And this is the Museum of Natural History! One of my favorite buildings in Ox πŸ™‚

This is the Said Business School outdoor hallway, I come to SBS a lot to study πŸ™‚

IMG_1502

And the river that runs through town…I swear, all European cities have rivers in the middle of town!

IMG_1503 IMG_1505

Oh haha and this is one of my few British friends here in Ox, we went to Formal Dinner (which my college has twiceΒ a week) and forgot to take pictures during, so we took some after the fact πŸ˜€

IMG_1506 IMG_1507

Oh!! And THEN I went to ANOTHER one of my few British friends in Ox’s house to cook SICHUAN food!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ That’s a special part of Chinese cuisine, which originates from Sichuan province in China. We have been meaning to cook together for a long time, ever since we discovered ages ago that we both love Sichuan food! And he cooks it very well considering he’s not Chinese!!

(the below picture is of me expressing surprise at how tiny this pan is)

Oh and then he also had this huge poncho in his living room that I just had to try on:

IMG_1527 IMG_1531

And then just random pictures of Ox πŸ™‚ It is so beautiful now that the weather’s nice; I take pictures every time I leave the house!

IMG_1535 IMG_1537 IMG_1538 IMG_1540 IMG_1541 IMG_1542

Oh and then this was FORMAL Formal! Which is like, one step up from regular formal dinner. It’s 4 courses instead of 3, and black tie instead of smart casual. Was lots of fun!! The portions were so small though and were incredibly spaced out D:

IMG_1544 IMG_1545 IMG_1546 IMG_1547 IMG_1548 IMG_1549 IMG_1550 IMG_1551

And….some more pictures of Ox being beautiful πŸ™‚

IMG_1567 IMG_1568 IMG_1569 IMG_1570 IMG_1571 IMG_1572 IMG_1573 IMG_1574 IMG_1575 IMG_1578 IMG_1579 IMG_1580 IMG_1581 IMG_1582

Oh! And this is a beautiful study spot in my college’s library that I just discovered πŸ˜€ Wonderful study view, if I may say so:

IMG_1586 IMG_1587 IMG_1588

And this is my new favorite cafe!! Magic Cafe on Magdalen Road, it’s a super cool and cozy vegetarian and vegan cafe–AND they have a piano! The owner lets me practice on it in the afternoons when the cafe’s quite quiet πŸ™‚

IMG_1598 IMG_1600 IMG_1601

And then alas…the good weather didn’t remain, and we are amongst rain again. But here’s a cute picture of my flatmate taking a picture of the first snail she’s seen in Oxford! Come to think of it, it’s probably the first snail I’ve seen since coming here too…

And with that, I’ll sign off! More pictures and stories to come next week!
