Hello beautiful people,
Have you ever heard of the saying, “only make friends outside of your major?” Maybe you were like me, and didn’t know such advice existed until you set foot on a college campus. But, trust me, there’s some real magic in branching out. If you’re curious about how to expand your social circle, join us Wednesday August 20th for How to College 101: Making Friends (and Enchanting Your Enemies).
As you can tell, I took that saying literally because I “friendshipped” so hard that I ended up at the Geosciences Department’s end of summer research dinner. Yes, me, a non-geoscience major, crashing their celebration at Lookout Farm!

Group dinner at Lookout Farm
In true Geosciences Department style, we spent time exploring the environment, and I walked away with a deeper appreciation for having friends whose interests are wildly different from mine. I enjoy hearing about the exciting projects they are working on and the fun trips that they go on! This is probably the most traveled department at Wellesley! They go out to many different states for fun field trips. They went to several different museums across multiple states in just one summer!

I told Dr. Katrin Monecke to strike a cool pose with me
Did you know that grapes can be grown as a cover crop? I learnt that on this trip, and now it’s my new fun fact that I can’t stop sharing with people! I thought this was so cool. Plus, I have NEVER seen this many grapes in one place! It was basically a vineyard lover’s dream and a fruit enthusiast’s paradise all rolled into one.
See you next week!
Best,
