A Weekend in my Life

Hello Blog!

I’ve officially made it through one of my crazier weeks of the semester! In celebration, I’m going to try something a little different and take you through a relatively busy weekend for me. We will begin after my last class of the day on Friday…

Friday:

  • Lunch at El Table: El Table is one of the student-run co-ops on campus and I had a delicious secret-menu item called “The Lady in Red”
  • Carillon lesson: My duet partner and I are practicing our piece for our “Duets and More” open tower in Mid-march (before spring break).
  • Lab meeting: Today someone presented a scientific paper that has to do with our research and we discussed it as a group. Our first year apprentice, Jo, and I were matching in overalls and she brought me a book I wanted to borrow!
  • Physics office hours: I prepare a lot before office hours because I like using the time to ask conceptual questions and do practice problems on the whiteboard if there’s time.
  • Dinner with friends: Friday was the last day for chicken tinga this week in Lulu.
  • Studying for physics: I like making my own review packets for studying, so I have a few practice problems to get through before I log off from school-work for the night
  • Tishman Party: A society on campus is throwing a party in our campus center, so I went with a few of my friends.

Saturday:

  • Brunch: Saturday is time for Joe’s Fried Rice at the Lulu grill.
  • Physics take-home midterm: Clearly, the most exciting part of my weekend. I’ll review for a bit in the morning and then I have 4 hours to complete the exam.
  • Orgo: I’ll keep working on my problem set due Sunday with a friend from class and review the material for our quiz next Friday.
  • TCO Night Market: This is the Taiwanese Cultural Organization’s biggest event of the year, so I went to support some of my friends. There was food, games, and student vendors!
  • Tupelos Concert: The Tupelos are an acapella group on campus that my friend is a part of!
  • Guild Party: This is a scavenger hunt themed party with the guild of carillonneurs!

Sunday:

  • Brunch: Are we sensing a theme? On Sunday, you can make your own omelets at Lulu, which are delicious.
  • Finishing my orgo problem set: I like having my Sundays pretty free for work and getting ready for the week.
  • Nanoscience and Jazz readings: It’s nice that I can break up my readings for the week between something more humanities-focused and something more stem-focused.
  • CMS Treasurer application: This is the busiest time of the year for treasurers of orgs because we need to make sure we reapply for funding for the next year. I’ll be meeting with my co-treasurer and the president to make sure everything for our reapplication looks good.
  • Early bedtime: I have a 9am lab on Monday and my roommate has 8:30 French, so we need to get to sleep early to start the week off well-rested!

Until next time,

Jade <3
