Hello Blog!
Welcome back to another alliteratively-titled post! As the title suggests, I’ve been recovering from a cold so apologies for the delayed post. I have to say, one great thing about living close to campus is that I can go home when I’m feeling sick. My brief stay also overlapped with my little brother’s February break so we got to spend some time together. I was originally apprehensive about going to college so close to home because I was afraid I wouldn’t have any independence, but I’m really grateful I do now. I don’t go home a lot, but sometimes when I want a quiet weekend or I get sick, it’s nice to know I can go home. There is nothing that a night of sleep in my bedroom and a bowl of kimchi soup cannot fix.
But before I fell ill my friends and I had a great long weekend off-campus! First, we stopped in Providence where we ate the most delicious crepes, visited the RISD museum, and walked around the Brown Campus. We actually ran into some other Wellesley students (probably because Providence is pretty accessible by Boston public transportation) and someone I knew from high school! One of the most exciting attractions in the state of Rhode Island is the existence of Pinkberry. As I have previously mentioned, I am a major frozen yogurt fan and Pinkberry original and pomegranate swirl is the best froyo I have ever happened upon. We ended up getting an entire quart to take back with us (one of the best purchases of my life).
Next, we stayed with my friend’s aunt and uncle in Marblehead, MA. Marblehead is on the ocean, but it’s not all the way up the Cape, so it’s pretty close to Wellesley. I absolutely love the ocean and this time we found a beach with swings. Something about swinging in the cold overlooking the ocean was so idyllic and satisfying to me. The water was cold but honestly not that much colder than when I swam on the Cape this summer. I know I mentioned a polar plunge last week, and I really would have, but I was beginning to feel ill so I didn’t want to push it. Next time though!
Finally, upon my return to campus I found my new favorite study spot. In Green Hall there are the senate chambers, which are used for student government. It’s also pretty close to the entrance to the bell tower and the career ed office. But when senate isn’t going on it’s actually a really nice place to study! There are comfortable couches, lots of natural light, and super high ceilings. My friend introduced me to the spot and most recently we studied there at night and ran her lines for an upcoming production – we could be as loud and dramatic as we wanted!
Until next time,
