Hey everyone!
My name is Kara and I'm a sophomore (green class of 2013)! I hail from the city of Mercer Island, WA, which is about 15 minutes East of Seattle and 40 minutes from the Cascade Mountains where I like to ski in the winter and hike in the summer.
So we can get acquainted easily, here's a list of fun facts about me:
- I'm a varsity soccer player for the Wellesley College Blue
- Chocolate chip cookies are my kryptonite
- I'm terrible at math.
- Seattle = home of Starbucks. I love mochas and coffee shops remind me of home
- Working with children is super fun and I have volunteered in Wellelsey Words and Wheels (where I read to my little kindergarten buddy once a week) and at the Wellesley Child Study center
- I run in my free time (Lake Waban on campus has a beautiful trail)
- I'm a Resident Assistant in Tower Court this year
I'm trying to decide whether to be a psychology, policital science, or French major. I might even double major. My major declaration will be one of many big decisions I have to make this year.
I really get excited about Wellesley's rich history. One of my all-time favorite traditions here is Flower Sunday, which just took place a few Sundays ago for the entire campus. However, the Wellesley soccer team has a special celebration together! that just took place a few days ago! The tradition is still fresh in my mind.
Flower Sunday always serves as a nice reminder that the Wellesley community is really like a big family of sisters. Every year, upperclasswomen are paired with a first-year (usually from the same residence hall) in hopes that they will share a special bond for the rest of their undergrad lives at Wellesley. Here I am with my soccer sisters! Every class is represented.
Anyway, I don't want to overwhelm you so I'm going to go. Please ask any questions or comment on anything on this blog and I will get back to you! Thanks to my RA training, I can tell you tons of information about resources and activities on campus. This year is going to be full of choices and I know I'm going to have to learn a lot about myself in order to make some big decisions.
I can't wait to share my year with all of you!
