Yesterday was the LAST DAY OF CLASS!!!!!

The sun was shining, everyone was smiling, and the entire campus was outside 🙂 Though the stress of exams still lingers, we can just focus on cranking out our exams and papers without worrying about classes, too.

I actually love this time of year because summer vacay is just around the corner (for me that means swimming, boating, and kayaking off of my friend’s dock on Lake Washington and eating ice cream on Capitol Hill or Madison Park in Seattle). I’m really looking forward to going home and doing NOTHING for a few weeks.

Yesterday all the dining halls closed around 4 pm for the annual Last Day of Class BBQ on Severance Green. My friends Regan and Tucker came for the BBQ and hung out with us for a bit before they decided to head out. Harvard is already done with finals period! This barbecue was a nice end to a long semester of hard work; dining services served delicious corn on the cob, watermelon, pulled pork sandwiches, cornbread, and pasta salad, and the campus sat outside and ate until the Matt & Kim concert on Munger Meadow at 7. The seniors did their Stepsinging (they all wear their robes and their class color and sing from the Wellesley Songbook…it’s a tradition). Life is good!!

Speaking of traditions, here’s my big sister Jennie hoop rolling last week down Tupelo Lane with the Class of 2011. She didn’t win, even thought I really thought her pink Saucony Kinvaras (her awesome running shoes) would carry her to victory. Jennie is the awesome girl who persuaded me to run the marathon with her this year!! She didn’t win hoop rolling, unfortunately. The winner gets thrown in the lake 🙂

To top it all off, Matt & Kim were awesome!! I am definitely going to try to see them in concert again. They had everyone moving and jumping around. The sun set while they played one of their most famous songs, “Daylight.”

I know I said I would write about Spring Formal which was last weekend. I had the most fun I think I have had the whole semester. Everything went well and as Mary-Grace and I had planned: the DJ came early, everyone loved the flemenco guitarists, the photographers took a fabulous group picture and everyone enjoyed the Boston Market catering. The house looked incredible. Here’s a little peek into our night:

The ZA house! Mary-Grace made those Carnation flower arrangements herself!! The theme was Primavera en España.

The next day, I had a soccer tournament at Endicott College, which is right on the water in Beverly, MA. We played 4 short games, spent time in the sun, and stopped at the beach and bought ice cream after our long day of playing.

I only have ONE LAST POST of the year. Can you believe it??? I think I might have to save this blog so that I can look back and see what I was up to every week of my sophomore year. Kinda neat, huh? I will of course report back next week after exams have started and as I’m packing up.

Hope the sun is shining today, wherever you are!

xoxo,

Kara
