Every semester DMSAC (Davis Museum Student Advisory Committee) hosts a kind of party-like night at Wellesley’s on-campus museum, The Davis (we have a Manet and a Monet!), called “Davis After Dark”. There’s always delicious food, music and good company. This semester, the event focused on a photography exhibition. Professor Irene Mata of the Women’s and Gender Studies department spoke about she pieces that really struck her and the motifs that linked 3 seemingly unrelated photographs. In past years, other professors have spoken and even read some of their original poetry.
My first year at Wellesley, I took an art history course on Ancient Greek and Roman art.We actually took a class trip to the Davis museum when studying Antioch mosaics; Wellesley is one of the few institutions to have one!
The Davis always makes for a quiet and beautiful place to work (the Greenhouse is great for studying in the winter, too!) and it’s a building that everyone should visit at least once before graduating. Here’s a couple snapshots from Davis After Dark:
