Hi to all,
I had an awesome time this weekend. It was Friends and Family/Homecoming Weekend. It was also Discover Wellesley Weekend. (Pretty busy I know). Although no one from my family came to visit, I still enjoyed the benefits of Friends and Family weekend, including the food.
Harambee House, the place on campus that serves Wellesley students of African descent, threw a “Taste of the Diaspora” event in which they served food from all over the African Diaspora. I had an awesome time eating foods from all over and foods that I grew up with. They had sweet plantains and rice, and mac and cheese. (I could go on and on). It was just awesome! They also had some wonderful performances by student groups on campus.
On Sunday, my prospie came for Discover Wellesley Weekend. The admissions office had tons of great things planned for the prospie. First, she hung out with my roommate and I. While we tried our best to answer her questions. Then, I took her to an Ethos meeting so she could see how orgs at Wellesley work and Ethos in particular. The prospie’s also got to attend classes. I believe mine chose an econ course.
At an event like Discover Wellesley Weekend, you are able to put yourself in the school and imagine for a day, how it is like to be a student at that certain place.
I always think it it is a great idea to come for an overnight at a college you are interested in/accepted into. Just to see if it is the right fit for you. When I was applying and deciding between schools, I know that those things helped me feel the school out and see if it was a place I saw myself in for four years. Visiting Wellesley solidified my decision to come here.
One last thing, Fall is HERE. The leaves are turning, the air is cool. And they are serving [insert fruit] spice in the dining halls. (Is pumpkin a fruit?)
It is an exciting time.
To celebrate Fall, Wellesley SBOG (a student org that organizes the major events on campus) is hosting Fall frenzy. Here is a blurry photo of the fall frenzy shirts. More on Fall leaves, frenzy and weather next time.
