Travel and Finals Blues

I am back on campus after Thanksgiving break. I had an awesome time at home but not such an awesome time on the way back.

Traveling is interesting. College is the first time I traveled by myself without a family member or a travel buddy. It is fun exploring cities and figuring things out on your own. But taking the bus is exhausting. Train tickets are always a little too expensive for me so I opt to take the bus home. (Home is New Jersey, by the way, a bus ride to somewhere farther like Illinois would have been a killer). However, buses are uncomfortable and they do not arrive on time. Ever. They also prolong the trip by as much as three hours depending on how bad traffic is.

Between South Station here in Boston to Penn Station in Newark, NJ there are no direct buses, so I have to take two buses. One from Boston to New York Penn Station and then one from NYC Penn Station to Newark Penn station. I got tired just writing this explanation to you.

I recommend you buy your train tickets early and save yourself the trouble of an uncomfortable bus trip.I was able to find a cheap ticket home for Winter break and I am looking forward to that comfortable train ride.

Currently working on a creative sociology project in which I get to write, take pictures or do whatever else that suits my fancy. I am really looking forward to using my creativity and having a little fun with an assignment.

Finals are here. Finals can be a hard time for a lot of students in college. Great place to mention that as a first-year I get shadow-graded.

Essentially, I get a grade for the classes that I take but I they do not show up on my transcript or factor into my overall college GPA. All that will be seen is that I passed the course. Only I and the instructor of that course will ever know my grade. It’s such a great way to facilitate that transition to college.

Now I leave you with some pictures of my family and food from Thanksgiving.
