I finished my college classes!

Tuesday was a big day: I had my last class of undergrad. My philosophy professor gave us time to work on our final papers, so I spent the hour and change reading philosophy stuff on my own. Class ended, and off I went. It was anticlimactic.

Wednesday was food truck day. Wellesley brought in a bunch of food trucks, which brought massive lines to the chapel lawn. I scored a vegan ice cream cookie sandwich and half a vegan grilled cheese for lunch. My friend Caroline and I hung out with our favorite librarians at Clapp. (Have I mentioned that I adore the research librarians?) Then it was back to work, chipping away at my pile of assignments (no exams, fortunately), until stepsinging. I donned my robe and sang silly songs. It was a blast.

Me and my cookies

On Thursday, I did a photoshoot with Caroline after she successfully defended her thesis (woohoo!), and then the crew team had its end of year dinner. The underclassmen decked the boathouse with yellow decorations and memes and gave the seniors the softest little rat plushies (I don’t know where it came from, but there’s a joke that we’re the fat rat class). It was really sweet. I felt so loved.

Friday afternoon, I went to a reception at President Johnson’s house for seniors who won fellowships. The sun had just come out after a gray few days, and I couldn’t stop smiling. The view of the lake was gorgeous.

This morning, the crew seniors had our own little hooprolling race, since we were at a regatta during the big one. I practiced for ten minutes beforehand and wound up veering off the course (those hoops are hard to steer!), but it was really fun. It’s like walking a dog, but it’s a hoop, and you have to push it.

Hooprolling! I’m on the left

The sun has been shining since Friday afternoon, and it’s done so much for my mood. I’m writing this as I sit in my lawn chair in the middle of the quad with my friend Brynne on a blanket beside me. Some folks are already moving out. But with the warmth, the sun, and the freedom to set my own schedule, I think finals week is one of the best times of the year.
