New littles, s’mores, party, and brunch

Today marks three years since Wellesley students found out we were getting sent home because of covid (back when we still called it coronavirus). The email went out in the middle of my Portuguese class. Chaos ensued. When my classmates and I graduate in May, hardly anyone on campus will have known a pre-covid Wellesley. I wonder how much institutional memory will be lost. Only a handful of students will remember Pom dining hall!

That’s enough of my dripping nostalgia. Here’s back to your regularly scheduled blog:

I did so many fun things this weekend! Yesterday was busy. After practice, the crew team had our big/little ceremony. Alison and I adopted four first-years as littles. We went to French House with our big and drank chai and ate oatmeal cookies. I made bracelets with the colors of our oars for all our littles.

After dinner, I went down to the firepit to roast marshmallows with friends from the nordic team. I’ve only skied once since crew started up again, but I had so much fun hanging with my nordic friends. They are all so kind.

I didn’t want to stay up late (especially because of the time change), but I convinced myself to go to a party on campus with a bunch of friends, and it ended up being really fun! Yes, I got less than 8 hours of sleep (I am incapable of sleeping past 6:30 in my dorm room—today that meant 7:30), and now I am in full zombie mode at 6:45 p.m., but I enjoyed myself. The party was super cute and well-planned and I definitely would have regretted not going. Especially because I would’ve missed vegan chocolate coffee cupcakes.

Today, I went into Boston to meet up with friends from my Galapagos semester who are visiting during their spring break. We got brunch and walked along the Freedom Trail. It did not feel like it had been ten months since we parted ways in Ecuador.

Luckily, my busy fun weekend coincided with a relatively light week of schoolwork. It’s time for me to get started on assignments that are due right after spring break, which is only two weeks away. This semester is going by alarmingly fast.

The dining halls put on the annual chili cook-off! 2 of the 5 chilis were vegan. It’s such a silly tradition and I love it.

Me and some study abroad friends in Boston!
