How to Travel and Study… Simultaneously?

And so it begins! I am writing this from a cozy cafe in The Ljubljana city centre. The relaxed environment in Slovenia, even the capital city, are remarkable; all I want to do is curl up with a good book and let the peacefulness into my brain and body. I am a little embarrassed to say that I have yet to make it to the Ljubljana castle. I did spend the day in Lake Bled yesterday, which is a beautiful lake in the northwest of Slovenia. Despite being a tourist attraction, the environment there was again calm and relaxed. Today we will go to the seaside to a lovely city called Piran, which is very close to Croatia.

I am visiting two of my best friends from last semester. Tina and Karin lived in my house, and life in Belfast completely changed when they left at the end of the semester. It has been lovely to see them again! I feel like I’ve gotten a look into what life is like in Slovenia. I am currently staying with Tina, but Tina sprained her ankle a couple days ago, so I might move to Karin’s if it works better for everyone. Besides Karin and Tina, I have also been hanging out with Katja and Dominik. I know Katja and Dominic from Belfast as well, but we never hung out much. It’s been really fun to see them again, though! And with Karin busy with work and Tina unable to walk, it’s been lovely knowing other people in the area. Ajda, who is a close friend this semester, is also from Slovenia. She is currently in her home town. The plan is to go visit her at some point, but I’m not entirely sure that will be possible. I’ve gotten my first taste at what it is like to do school work when you’re travelling. I usually finish all my work before starting to travel, but I am travelling for a long time so that wasn’t really possible. Anyway, doing school work while travelling requires both dedication and being okay with a lack of sleep. I should probably just take my computer into the city centre and do work, but I don’t want to be lugging it around after that. I just have to figure out some kind of schedule. my first taste at what it is like to do school work when you’re travelling. UPDATE:

Piran was beautiful! We could see Croatia and Italy both at one point! Isn’t that crazy?? The weather in Southern Europe has been incredible! So sunny, but not to the point where it is uncomfortable. I just finished working on an essay and am now heading out to meet my friends in the city centre. Domink is leaving today, but Ajda arrives right around the time he leaves. Then I am hoping to see the Postojna Caves tomorrow, and then my time in Slovenia ends! And I have to work on another essay… I’ll keep you all updated!

Until next time~
