In Full Swing

How’s everyone doing? February is off to a fairly good start for me. I surprised myself by completing my first month of training. I can’t believe it was once unimaginable that I could fit six workout sessions into one week, but it all goes to prove what dedication can do. Now I find myself planning my days around them instead of trying to fit them in every once in a while. Perhaps b y extension, I also seem to take quicker showers now, which is great for the environment. Overall, I feel pretty good about my health. I have an appointment to get my eyes checked this Wednesday. Unfortunately, I will have to miss a Chem lecture to make it, but I should make the lab (which is also on Wednesday) and the professor said I could make the class up on Thursday.

Classes are still very interesting, but also very freaking intense. I’ve been struggling to keep up with homework, especially readings, but I have decided that using my planner a little bit more consistently can help me with that. I knew my course-load this semester was going to be challenging, so now I just have to adapt to the situation and find some tips on how to procrastinate less. If you have any, please let me know! The last year of Chinese was difficult because it was never a priority for me. However, doing the homework due the following week over the weekend has worked magnificently. I also felt like my speaking and listening could use more attention, so I started using FluentU, a popular application for learning languages. I am about a week into the free trial, and I am seriously loving it. However, I am hesitant to buy it because it is very, very expensive—about $30 per month. Using the application for the course is, of course, not required, but it might actually be worth it. I will let you know what I decide.

About two weeks ago I mentioned that I had bought a new laptop. After maybe eight or so years of using solely Apple products, I finally made the switch to Windows. I won’t lie: it was not easy. Everything seems to be in different places, and I simply have not had the time to devote to it. However, the few hours here and there actually seem to be making a difference. I was freaking out a little at first because the college does not support Windows 10 yet, which is what the Surface Book comes with. However, I was finally able to connect it to the college wi-fi today. I’m not sure if I or the tech help desk figured it out, but I no longer have to use the guest wi-fi, which is really all that matters. I am hoping to make the full switch by the end of this coming week. I still have to move my important files (which are mostly photographs, but also some schoolwork) and choose the Lightroom/Photoshop monthly plan for the Surface Book. I gotta say, it was incredibly easy to get used to using two computers simultaneously. I will definitely miss my Macbook, but I am looking forward to really learning to use the Surface Book. Hence, I will say it does not really matter whether you get a Mac or PC. I shall let you know if anything changes.

Met up with a HS friend over the weekend

There are three more things I wanted to talk about: social life at Wellesley, study abroad applications, and working while at Wellesley. I feel like the blog post is already pretty long, so I will leave it for next week, but I have uploaded two pictures from this weekend. It was really fun, and totally worth the traveling. Definitely will be going into Boston more often from now on.

Happy Lunar New Year, have a nice long weekend, and I will be back next Tuesday!

P.S. I’ve been posting lots of photos of Wellesley and Boston on my Instagram lately, so feel free to check that out!
