Hello hello!
My name is Shreya, and I’m a sophomore at Wellesley this year. I hail from America’s finest city, also known as San Diego, California. I’m a Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences major, and a Health and Society minor.
After coming back from a meaningful and productive summer internship, I am super excited for this semester!
I’m taking the following courses: Health and Society, Cognition, Statistics for Psychology, and Introduction to Hispanic Studies, which is essentially advanced Spanish. My classes are all interesting and engaging. Along with academics, I’ll be doing linguistics research at MIT as a UROP, as well as working as a student assistant in the Political Science department. Additionally, I am an intern DJ for campus radio, called WZLY.
Outside of the classroom, you’ll find me spending time in Boston as the weather turns cooler, taking an infinite amount of lake walks, and relaxing with my friends (who I can’t imagine life at Wellesley without).
I live in Severance Hall (part of Tower Court), in a gigantic triple. I’ll definitely be doing a room tour and posting some pictures of it in a future blog post.
One thing I love about Wellesley is how easy it is to integrate and apply the knowledge I’ve learned. I’ve been able to connect what I’ve learned in my classes to the research I’ve been doing, as well as with one another. It makes me so happy to connect various fields – trust me when I say, an interdisciplinary environment is exhilarating. I especially love how my major, Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences, requires taking class in not only my concentration (psychology) but also in computer science, linguistics, and philosophy! In addition to all of that, Wellesley also has an incredible community (more on that next time!).
My blog posts will highlight things around campus that make Wellesley feel like home, and show how amazing a liberal arts and women’s college combined can be. Of course, I’ll include my tried and tested tips on how to not only survive at Wellesley, but also thrive – from academics to Boston winters, I’ve got you covered.
Here’s to a great year,
Shreya
