It’s Friday, I’m in love (with my schedule)

Hello hello!

Hope everyone had a good week! Current status: It’s almost the weekend, it’s sunny (but cold), and it’s the last week of February. We just wrapped up week 5 of the semester, so I thought it would be fitting to write about what my schedule is like on a typical Friday.

Fridays are my chill days, because I don’t have any formal classes. I wake up around 7:45am to get ready and go to work at 8:30am. I work in the Political Science department as a student assistant (as part of my work-study job). Usually, I dash out of Beebe and eat breakfast at Lulu, the campus center. I’ve been spending a lot more time in Lulu this semester, and I adore it (especially in the mornings). The dining hall is quiet, and there is plenty of natural light.

After grabbing breakfast (usually consisting of oatmeal with cranberries, granola, and sunflower seeds as well as some fruit on the side), I head out to Pendleton East, where the Political Science department is located. Friday mornings at work are not terribly busy. If there are no immediate tasks to be done, I usually spend time working on homework, catching up on emails, and chatting with Lynda, my boss (who is amazing). Once my shift ends, I have some free time before heading to Green Hall.

Although I have no formal classes on Fridays, this semester I decided to audit a religion class, just based out of pure interest in the subject material. Wellesley is pretty cool when it comes to auditing classes: any student can audit any class (given that they have the permission of the instructor). Once class finishes, I eat lunch at either El Table (the student run co-op on campus with amazing sandwiches) or Lulu. Today, I have plans to meet with a senior at Lulu. After lunch, I have some time off in the afternoon – how I spend it usually varies. Sometimes I start my readings for the upcoming week, finish grading problem sets for the statistics class I’m a teaching assistant for, go to the gym, take a nap, or spontaneously hop on the bus to Boston (I did this last week, highly recommend!). Today, I signed up for a design thinking workshop on campus (hosted by Google), which I’m attending with a friend. I’m looking forward to this workshop, and will report back on it next week! Finally, I scheduled a Facetime/Skype with a friend studying abroad in Europe, so I’m probably going to spend this evening chatting with her after dinner. However, some Friday nights I’m out with friends, spending time in Boston or watching a movie.

Well, there you have it folks! A Friday-in-the-life of a Wellesley College junior. Again, my schedule really varies week by week, but hopefully this painted a broader picture for what a Friday looks like for me.

Enjoy the weekend,
Shreya
