Okay, I'll start by explaining the title of this post. Sometimes, at my meetings for Wellesley College TV, our producer (a really cool junior) will have us start by giving a rose (a good thing that happened to us) a thorn (something not so good) and a bud (something that we're hopeful about).
Soooo, that's what I will do for you today. Eh-heeem…
Rose, or roses: This past weekend was the best weekend I've had all semester! On Friday, I performed and enjoyed a musical program put on by the Africana Studies Department. On Saturday I went to my professor's birthday house party! It was a lot of fun – there was great food and music, with a nice mix of ages, as you might imagine. Sunday night, I was my friend's date to a holiday dinner for one of his organizations at MIT. It was pretty classy, and a lot of my friends were there.
Thorn: Ugh. Saturday afternoon I was chugging along on homework so that I would have it out of the way for the coming awesomeness. Then I got a computer virus. It's the last week of classes which means papers and revisions are due, there are portfolios to put together, notes to review…I need my computer.
Bud: I don't think Deena the Dell is fried yet. We have a computer help desk here at Wellesley housed in the main library, and they showed me how to clean her up. It's just taking longer than I would like. Still, I'm in such a good mood from the past few days this is probably the best time for something like this to happen. And if I can get through this week, I'll be almost home – yippee!
This is a flyer from Friday's event! See "Ministry to Black Women Dance Ensemble" on the side there? That would be me and another young lady 🙂
