Happy Friday! This past weekend was very fun and hectic. First of all, my cousin visited and stayed with me.
On Friday night, my cousin and I went to Newbury Street for dinner. Newbury is an area in Boston with trendy restaurants, cafes, clothing stores, etc. The loco, our school bus shuttle, drops us off right next to Newbury. On Saturday, we went to Cambridge for an event at Harvard. We took the loco to Harvard Square, one of the weekend shuttle stops. I love Cambridge, there’s a lot to do and it’s always busy on weekends. Beyond going to Boston and Cambridge, I also showed my cousin around Wellesley’s campus. We walked a bit around Lake Waban and ate made-to-order omelets in the Lulu dining hall.
Then there were no classes on Monday because of the Boston Marathon aka Marmon. As I wrote in my last post, Marmon is when the Boston Marathon passes by our campus and Wellesley students line up and loudly cheer on marathon runners and spend the day having fun. Unfortunately, I got pretty sick after my cousin left and didn’t feel well enough to go cheer outside in the cold and rain. I am lucky though and my dorm is close to the main road where the marathon is. So, I just watched the runners from the warm comfort of my dorm’s common room. The energy on campus was lively and I know that SBOG, the organization that hosts large campus events, had outdoor games and stands.
Overall, last weekend was fun and I feel a lot better now. And, I have some fun news: I am now a WZLY DJ! This week I passed the DJ test for WZLY, our student radio station, and will have my weekly radio show in the fall. I’m super excited. I can’t believe there are only a few weeks left in the semester; I will post soon with takeaways from my first year of college and all the advice I have for the incoming Wellesley Class of 2027. Thanks for reading and I’ll include photos from the week!
