Marathon Week

Hello everybody!

I had a really exciting week last week with lots of events and fun activities. Of course, right now I am paying the price of putting my work aside, but I am honestly not mad about it.

First of all, last Sunday was the Orthodox Easter, so I spend my weekend doing things with other Orthodox students and meeting with other Bulgarians in the area I know. On Saturday morning, some friends and I were dying eggs in Lake House’s kitchen, which was a really fun experience. I haven’t dyed eggs with anyone but my family, so I was really excited to share that experience with other students here. On Sunday, one of my Bulgarian friends in Boston brought me Easter bread and we fought with eggs (I am happy to say that my egg won and survived the day).

Also, this weekend was really busy in Wellesley because of the Boston Marathon. On Sunday night some friends and I (alongside hundreds of other students probably) made some posters for the marathon.

The marathon passes through our campus, so it is a tradition for Wellesley students to gather along the road and scream in support of the runners (it’s called the Wellesley scream tunnel by the way). It was so fun and full of so many positive feelings that it felt really special. Here are some photos:

There were also a lot of games, food, and other fun activities on the grass spaces around campus. There were some carnival-type games, which I love. I won a plush toy from one of them! I didn’t really take pictures of those things, but this a pretty picture of the setting around them:

Other fun things from the week:

  • My friends and I went swimming in our pool, which was really fun.
  • We also had a picnic behind my dorm…again.
  • My Slater Big Sibling and I were just elected to be the European Co-representatives at Slater, the international students center.
  • I went shopping in Boston with a friend (I think I have way too many clothes at this point).

That’s it from me for the week! Stay safe!
