Hello Blog,
It’s a busy time here at Wellesley! Tuesday was the Tanner Conference, one of the two Wellesley-hosted conferences where students can present on the cool work they’re doing.
Typically, people talk about their summer experiential learning experiences, so I gave a Tanner on my experience doing research at Caltech. It’s a really fun day because classes are canceled so everyone has time to attend their friends’ presentations. My panel had a lot of people doing really interesting DNA-based research, so it’s also a place for younger students to get inspiration about the different types of opportunities they can pursue over the summer. Fun fact: on the table when I arrived, there was this cute flyer (below) from Career Education because I spent a lot of time with them last winter applying for this summer program.
It was also a busy weekend thanks to friends and family weekend. I’m from Massachusetts, so this has never been a huge weekend for me, but it’s really nice to see so many people on campus, especially during the fall when it’s so beautiful outside. There’s always a music department showcase, so I helped out with the chamber music society portion of the concert. We sold our goose musical instrument stickers outside the Chapel and peeked through the doors so we could hear the music.
This weekend, I also made it into Boston to enjoy the city while it’s still warm out. We went to the Boston Book Festival as well as a cute little farmer’s market and then spent some time wandering around Boston Commons (the cover photo). Because Halloween falls on a Thursday, a lot of people are celebrating two Halloweekends. We were having a chill Saturday, but it was funny to also see people walking around Boston in full costume. In terms of Halloween plans, there are a couple on-campus parties on the day of Halloween itself, and then we’ll probably head into Boston for Saturday night.
Until next time,
