Convocation, which will be held on Wednesday, August 31, marks the start of the academic year. I hope you will join your classmates, colleagues, and peers to celebrate the beginning of our year and to welcome President Johnson to Wellesley.

Convocation will begin with a festive reception in the Academic Quad at 3:30 p.m. Faculty, staff, and seniors: come wearing your academic gowns if possible. (Caps are not needed.)

This year, all underclass students who attend are invited to process, along with faculty, staff and seniors. Wear your class colors if possible. First years, sophomores, and juniors will process by residence hall.

For those marching in the procession, we will form two parallel double lines, one set for non-seniors, followed by one set for faculty and staff, followed by one set for seniors. We will begin lining up at 4:05 p.m., and we will begin our procession to the Hay Outdoor Theater promptly at 4:15 p.m.

Step Singing takes place in the theater immediately following the Convocation ceremony.

I look forward to seeing you at this special event.
