Re: Winter Break Energy Curtailment
Date: December 19, 2016

As we are preparing for winter break from December 26, 2016 to January 2, 2017 we would like to address important energy reduction initiatives. While we know that the College will not be completely shut down during this time, we are seeking your help to conserve as much energy as possible.  Even a small reduction in energy consumption will save resoures and will lessen our negative impact on the environment.

If you are going to be on campus during this 8-day period, please inform Facilities immediately to ensure that your workspace is adequately heated.

If you are going to be away during this break, please do the following:

1. Make sure all windows are tightly shut and latched.
2. Pull the window shades down all the way so that the shade rests on the window sill.
3. Close all curtains as tightly as possible. Shut down and unplug all appliances and electronics aside from what IT has told you to keep running.
4. If your radiator has a thermostat, set it at the number 1 or 2 position. Do not put it to the very lowest setting.
5. Turn off all lights.

By following these simple closing guidelines, you will help the College and make us a more sustainable community.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Patrick Willoughby by email (pwilloug@wellesley.edu) or by phone (781-283-2755) until December 23rd.  After that date please call Maintenance services Dispatch at 781-283-2767.  If it is an official holiday a recorded message with instruct you to call Campus Police at 781-283-2755.

Thank you, and have a good winter break and best wishes for 2017.
