Re: The Camellia Student Leadership Awards
Date: March 7, 2018

The Division of Student Life is pleased to announce the launch of a new Wellesley College tradition to honor students who demonstrate exemplary leadership through engagement on campus and in the broader community.

The awards are named after the Durant Camellia, one of the longest lasting gifts of Wellesley’s founders, Henry and Pauline Durant, to the college.   An elegant example of a species of flowering tree, the Durant Camellia is a symbol of resilience and ongoing growth and has bore silent witness to the development of outstanding leaders throughout the college’s history.  We seek to acknowledge students whose leadership is also marked by personal growth, community development and lasting impact.

Nominations for awards will be accepted through Sunday, March 25, 2018, and all members of the Wellesley College community are invited to nominate students who they feel exhibit the spirit of each individual award for consideration. Visit the website for more information about The Camellia Student Leadership Awards and the nomination process.

We hope that all members of the college community will also join us on Friday, April 20 at 4:00 p.m. in the Alumnae Ballroom for an awards ceremony followed by an outdoor reception to celebrate our award recipients.
