WELCOME BACK! The CWS hopes you had an enjoyable, fun and restful summer. While everyone was off campus, we’ve been busy revamping our programming for the upcoming year. Similar to last year, we will be posting an overview of upcoming events and deadlines here at the beginning of each week. Tuesday, September 3 –
- Grad School Tuesdays [new for 2013!] | 12:15 pm-1:30 pm | Wang Campus Center, 2nd floor – The CWS will offer graduate school drop-ins on Tuesdays from 12:15-1:30pm on the second floor of the Wang Campus Center, east Entrance, on Tuesdays during the fall semester when classes are in session. In addition, up to two graduate schools may be visiting campus and will have a drop-in table next to the CWS counselor. Make sure to check MyCWS for the most up-to-date listing of which graduate schools are attending.
- Fall Fellowships Meeting | 7:00 pm-8:30 pm | SCI 377 – In this event, we will review the many exciting fellowship opportunities available to Wellesley College students and alumnae. Special attention will be paid to the Watson Fellowship (which funds a year of international travel), the Fulbright U.S. Student Program (which funds a year of research or English-teaching overseas), and the Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell and Churchill Scholarships (which fund graduate study in the UK). We will also review additional opportunities whose deadlines are later in the year.
Wednesday, September 4 –
- Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell & Churchill Fellowships | 12:30 pm | CWS Library – This information session will review the process of applying for the prestigious Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, and Churchill fellowships. Topics covered will include the requirements for application, the objectives of each award, the campus nomination process and strategies for submitting a competitive application.
- Tanner Info Session | 4:30 pm | PNE 239 – Come to the info session to learn about the Tanner Conference, how to apply and prepare, and what to expect.
- Recruiting Info Session | 7:00 pm | SCI 277 – The Recruiting Information session will cover the CWS on-campus recruiting program including policies, program etiquette, MyCWS usage, etc.
Friday, September 6 –
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program Info Session | 5:00 pm | CWS Library – This information session will focus on the application process for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright offers hundreds of awards annually to young Americans who wish to go overseas to either teach English or to pursue a research project of their own design. Topics to be discussed will include program requirements, how to design and complete a strong proposal, and the campus nomination process.
Sunday, September 8 –
- CWS Boot Camp [Open to Juniors & Seniors] | 6:00 pm-9:00 pm | PNE – Join the CWS on September 8th from 5.30-9pm in PNE (Pendleton East) for our bi-annual CWS Boot Camp! Workshops start at 6pm, but come early for food, to chat with a counselor or to have your resume/cover letter or LinkedIn profile reviewed! Registration is required. The full list of the workshops and sessions is available in MyCWS.
