Thinking about coming to the CWS? Do you know how to make the most of your time? Here’s a quick snapshot of how to understand who you need to be seeing and for how long in the CWS:
See a CWS intern (two are on duty in the library at all times) when:
- You would like an introduction to MyCWS, the library, or the services offered by the CWS.
- You would like to ask a quick question about your resume and there is a long wait during drop-in hours or it is not drop-in time.
- You have a quick question about how to use the MyCWS system, make an appointment, or use the W network.
- You have never written a resume or cover letter before and would like guidance on how to create a draft before seeing a counselor.
Come in for a drop-in appointment for 10 minutes (offered every day between 12:30 and 2:00pm when classes are in session) if:
- You would like one piece of career related writing reviewed (including resume, cover letter, essay, statement, Linkedin profile, or networking email).
- You would like advice about initial steps to get started on a job or internship search.
- You are in the middle of an application or interview process and have a quick question about how to proceed.
There are also targeted drop-in appointments which last 15 minutes for recruiting, fellowships, internships, and service. Make an appointment in advance through MyCWS to have questions about specific programs answered.
Make an appointment with a CWS counselor for 25 minutes when:
- You would like to discuss your internship or job search strategy in more depth.
- You are interested in many things and do not know how to narrow down your interests.
- You would like to do a mock interview to prepare for an upcoming interview.
- You would like to talk about how to build your network and communicate with alumnae.
- You would like several documents reviewed at once.
Note: Appointments are only released in MyCWS for the upcoming two weeks. If there are no available appointments, check back daily to view recently released time slot.
