Saludos desde Chile! On my 2nd day in Puerto Natales, Chile, my home for the next 15 weeks, I took a trip down to the water to journal with 2 other students. The wind here is like nothing else! Sitting at these concrete chairs meant for a game of chess, I see beautiful dimensions of nature in front of me. The grasses sway with the strong wind, staggering behind the even faster waves and ripples of the turquoise water. Pearly white ducks with black heads bob with ease on the water sticking to packs of 3 reminding me of the pack of 3 I came here with. Unlike the moving ducks, large navy ships in the distance appear stuck in place like the rocks and mountains. For miles beyond and all along the coastline there are mountains that reach the clouds, not a naked coast in sight. The wind whips past my ears and rattles the pages of my notebook as I write. I hear the water crash against rocks and rush along to the shore. In the distance I hear birds that remind me of the seagulls I hear at Galveston, the closest beach to my hometown. After a few very long days, feel at ease in this space.
Your sit spot sounds so picturesque! I wonder what kind of ducks you saw — I would love to hear more about them if you see them again 😀
