I am glad my college has a lake, one that is beautiful, filled with wildlife, and ringed by trees and benches. I thought, being in the middle of a city, it would be all cobblestones and pavement, but every time I walk by the lake it feels like I am far away, in someplace much more rural, and with much more wildlife.
Even when it’s a little cold, with a slight drizzling of rain, it’s still beautiful. It makes the waterlilies stick out and glow under the water even more than when it is sunny, when you can hardly look in and see what’s at the bottom.
Sometimes you can hear ducks splashing. When it’s raining, all you hear is the drops hitting the surface. I can’t smell anything because it’s cold, but in warmer weather you could smell mulch and leaves.
