There has been significant environmental legislation to tackle climate change like the Environmental Protection Law No. 6 of 2017 and the Environmental Investment Law No. 21 of 2022, for a number of reasons, with two main ones being:

• Jordan is one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, and climate change is expected to worsen water scarcity.
• One of Jordan’s biggest contributors to the economy is agriculture, which is directly impacted by climate change through drought.
