Girls just want to have fun

I decided to stay on campus for this year’s Fall Break (October 5 – October 9) because I anticipate that I’ll have a lot of work this weekend. But I did not want it to be all work and no fun. So, during the Break, I started working on the two papers that are due next week, attended a dinner and gala in honor of the 52nd Nigerian independence day at Harvard Law School on Saturday, watched several episodes of my favorite TV shows all of Sunday and went into Boston and Cambridge on Tuesday. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with my break and I’m ready to give my all until my next break (Thanksgiving)!

Yesterday afternoon we celebrated Lake Day, a Wellesley tradition. Lake Day is organized by the student-run SBOG (Schneider Board of Governors) every fall. It is kept a secret until the night before it is meant to take place, when SBOGies distribute flyers in each dorm. On Lake Day (it’s really just between 12 and 2PM) students eat fried dough, ice cream, listen to music, dance and hang out on Severance Green. Ideally, it is sunny and bright outside. Unfortunately, it’s been raining and grey for the past few days. Thankfully, SBOG also organizes other events throughout the year such as Remix in September and concerts during Fall Frenzy and Spring Week. Considering the fact that we hosted Ellie Goulding, Chiddy Bang, Big Sean and Turquoise Jeep (among others) in the past, I really look forward to finding out who is coming this year!

Today is National Coming Out Day. Members of the various LGBTQ organizations on campus created the following structure to symbolize the process of “coming out” (students walked through the structure):

Happy Coming Out Day!

Last but not least: Mark your calendars on the dates Oct 21-October 22 for Discover Wellesley Weekend, dear domestic prospective student! You can register and get more information about it here: http://new.wellesley.edu/admission/discoverwellesley
