Mission: Registration

Howdy blog, and happy Thursday! I am proud to announce that as of 8:01 this morning, I am officially registered for my sophomore fall semester classes. As per the norm, my Twitter feed has been filled with students panicking over saved schedules, wait lists, and back up courses for the past week. Personally, I’ve never had any major difficulties on registration day- although I’ve only gone through it three times now- and today was no different. I just logged onto Workday, clicked the orange button, and was magically placed in all of my first choice classes. It’s times like these that I’m glad I’m not interested in any of the bigger departments. I know that for STEM students registration can be especially difficult, and my heart goes out to them for all of their waitlist sign ups.

In terms of the courses I’ll be taking next year, I’ve signed up for two English courses- Happiness and Shakespeare Part 1: The Elizabethan Period-, and Education Studies course- Reimagining Youth-, and Spanish 101. I’m also signed up for my first PE course, which I actually am a little bit excited about.

Following with the registration theme, I met with my first-year advisor over Zoom today to talk future plans, which is always fun. We talked about my major, what led me to choose it, and what I thought I might want to do with it in the future. I think I talked about this a little bit last week, but I’m a prospective English major sort of by accident, and I’m hoping to combine that with the Teaching and Learning Studies minor in the Education department. After college, I’m thinking about teaching or pursuing a degree in Library Sciences, but as you probably have noticed through the months of my writing this blog, my future plans tend to change faster than the phases of the moon, so who knows if that’s really where I’ll end up.

I’ll be honest, all of the planning for the future I’ve been doing is making it really hard to stay focused on the here and now, but with only 25 days until I leave campus, I’m trying to make the most of the end of my first year of college. I’m working on a midterm for one class and a research paper for another right now, so I’ve got to pedal to the medal to the end of Term 4!

Sending you joy!

P.S. Yes I do think of the fish from the Lorax when I think of Mission: Impossible; I’m so sorry to any film buffs reading this but humming fish in an animated Dr. Seuss movie are probably as close as I’ll ever get to watching it.
