SOC & YAY

First of all… CONGRATULATIONS to all of the amazing humans who were accepted in to the class of 2022! I am so excited for all of you and can’t wait to meet some of you over the next couple of days during Spring Open Campus!

While it’s be a couple of weeks since I last wrote a post due to spring break, I wanted to take the time today to talk about my SOC experience!

I was admitted as an ED1 student meaning I was committed as of December and boy was I committed. I would not shut up about Wellesley and had to resist the urge to talk about it in every conversation that I had. I convinced my mom that the only way I would stop talking about it is if we went back and so we did. Suddenly I found myself excited, slightly scared and alone in the middle of the KSC checking in. I left my stuff, picked a class to visit the next day and explored the different activities on offer. At dinner I met my lovely host who, to this day, is one of my closest friends. The other prospies and I headed to dinner with her and then to a talent show put on by the organizations on campus. There was drumming, singing and slam poetry. The nerves I had felt earlier in the day had vanished and had been completely replaced with excitement. An excitement to meet new people, to learn new things and to finally be in my place.

It’s that excitement that I hope you feel either through SOC or through reading more about Wellesley or each other’s post on the 2022 facebook page. There is something so powerful about knowing that you have found where you are supposed to be. While, for those who aren’t committed yet, it may not be Wellesley (though I hope it is) the nerves are okay and expected, but I hope wherever you end up it should excite you, challenge you, and nurture you.
