Add AND Drop

Whew! Okay I’m back for Spring 2011! I’ve done a lot of stuff in the two weeks that we’ve been in school, but I can’t say it’s been super exciting.

Let’s see, to begin the semester I moved in all my new stuff. My best friend and I showed off our newest purchases (if you guys participated in the last chat you know I love to shop). I bought books – I’m a HUGE proponent of Amazon. I’m also glad we have an on-campus bookstore. They are really nice, and you can save the time you would spend on waiting for a book to arrive in the mail if you order on online.

Oh, I also dropped my first class! Allow me to explain – this was actually a liberating experience. Wellesley has something called “Add-Drop Period.” It’s basically the first two weeks of each semester. If you weren’t admitted to a class that you wanted during registration, you can try to add it at this time. If you find that class isn’t right for you, you can drop it and change it out.

I am soooo not a math buff, yet I decided to take a math class to help fulfill my math/science requirement.

Not a good idea. I had flashbacks to high school math, only now I am certainly not going to pass notes.

This story has a happy ending though!  I switched to Astronomy. Now Astronomy certainly isn’t easy, and there is definitely math involved. Yet I find it so interesting! We’ve been talking about the recent data released by NASA from what they found with the Kepler telescope, and what Star Wars got wrong.

We have topics ripped from the headlines!

The morals of the story are:

1)      Add/Drop Period is a good thing.

2)      The opportunity to get a class you want doesn’t end at registration.

3)      If you hate a class, it’s not the end of the world.

Oh, and I get to play in our observatory.
