Hello Blog,
As expected, I made it through the weekend! I cannot say I had the most exciting past few days because I was taking the exams I mentioned previously, but it’s all about balance. I spent most of spring break out and about, so it makes sense that I had a weekend with a bit heavier of a workload than normal. I was still able to go home, see my family, and have a chill weekend while I got my work done!
The main thing I’m working towards now is my junior recital this Sunday (eek!). I’ve been preparing for this all year, so it’s a pretty big moment (not to mention that it’s the final for my course worth 20% of my grade). My friends and family and even a few professors will be there, so I’m honestly feeling a bit nervous — this is the first big solo performance I’ve ever given. I think it’s really cool that there’s a course like this at Wellesley where I can really dedicate time to improving as a musician. I’m really proud of the work I’ve done this year, so wish me luck!
Unfortunately, this means I won’t be at the first of our admitted student visit days. I’m honestly quite sad about it because I’ve worked both days the past two years. I’m not a morning person, but I love waking up early to cheer the cars as they drive in. It’s so fun to meet admitted students and show them around campus! But never fear, I will be there the second weekend!!
Finally, something interesting that I got to participate in last week were a few advisory committees. Jewett Arts Center is set to be renovated soon, so they held a student group with the architects and design team to share our opinions. I was there for the music department but there were also students and professors from art history, media arts and sciences, studio art, and more! I also got to meet with a potential hire for a lecturer in the chemistry department. There was a sample lecture held as well as a lunch afterwards. A lot of departments will seek student input for hiring decisions. Last year, I went to a lot of similar talks for the music department. I really appreciate that student input is valued in decisions like this! Plus, it’s also nice to be able to talk about what Wellesley is like to potential members of our community.
Until next time,
