MarMon!

Hi all,

The best holiday of the year was just two days ago! Marathon Monday, famously coined as ‘MarMon,’ is a well-loved tradition and event that will forever be one of my favorite moments from my time at Wellesley. Every Patriots’ Day, which is the third Monday of April, the Boston Marathon takes place and is a wonderful celebration on campus. Because of the Massachusetts celebrated holiday, Patriot’s Day also means classes are canceled on campus! Instead, there are tons of fun activities like photo booths, dance parties, bounce houses and so many more fun outdoor activities.

This year, the weather was so perfect for the spectators and the runners. One of the best parts about the marathon is the chance to cheer on the runners in our famous “Wellesley College Scream Tunnel.” Campus marks the 13th mile of the marathon and is the halfway point for the runners. The high energy and positivity are key characteristics of the celebration and make the whole event even more enjoyable.

My favorite part of MarMon this year was definitely the inflatable bouncy house. It had two slides and it felt really nice to be in the moment and focus on having fun. The spring is full of assignments and papers so being able to be in the moment and enjoy the warm weather with friends was a great experience. I especially enjoyed being able to look at all of the colorful signs and seeing how many Wellesley students were able to participate and come together to support a common cause. Overall, it was so much fun and I am looking forward to next year’s!

Until next week,

Anna Tutek
