Spring Break!!!

Hi everyone!

I’m writing this on a Saturday night at the end of my spring break on campus. I wasn’t planning on getting anything done before tomorrow (yes, I plan not doing things, it’s very necessary sometimes), but I got a burst of energy and decided to check off some stuff off of my to-do list. So, let me tell you about how I spent my spring break this year.

Most of my friends stayed on campus with me this week, so we were looking for fun things to do so that we got an actual fun break. We have been going to Boston and Framingham almost daily, which has been a lot of fun. We went thrifting (I got a really pretty green dress), went to a Cape Verdean restaurant, ordered food, and caught up on the shows we are watching (Drag Race and Abbot Elementary). We did a lot of movie and game nights, which I really loved. I also got to sleep a lot, which was really great.

Something fun we did was a day trip to New York City. We caught the Amtrak train from Boston in the morning, and we arrived back on campus that same night. The train ride was around four hours, and we had around eight hours to hang out in the city. We did some touristy stuff (we took a ferry to Staten island, we walked around the Times Square area, stuff like that) since some of my friends hadn’t been to the city before. We also hit some good food places (my favorite one was “Carlo’s bakery” because I grew up watching the show “Ultimate Cake Off”).

Some other things that happened this week:

    1. I got into my first choice summer research program at Wellesley, which means that I will spend the summer on campus working with a physics professor in their lab.
    2. I took up some extra shifts at the daycare center, so I was also working a little this week.
    3. Even though it’s Wellesley’s spring break, I still had my MIT class. Fortunately, my lab partner and I managed to finish our lab before class, so I didn’t have to go in person.

That’s it from me for the week. Stay safe!
