What is the Ted Wang Fellowship?

Wellesley’s Ted Wang Fellowship for East Asian Language & Business aims to encourage Wellesley College students with an interest in pursuing careers in business to gain advanced language skills in an East Asian language and knowledge of the richness of East Asian culture. During the spring semester of their junior year, Fellows will undertake a rigorous semester of study at one of our partner institutions in China, Korea, or Japan and complete an internship in a relevant business, either prior to or following the study abroad semester.

A product of collaboration between the East Asian Languages and Cultures Department and the Economics Department, the Ted Wang Fellows program seeks students who intend to double major or do a major and minor within our two departments (although other students may also apply). At least two years of language study will be required before departure (202 or equivalent). Wang Fellows will be given first priority for winter internships identified by our extensive Alumnae network, Career Education, the Office of International Studies, the Economics Department and the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. Wang Fellows must either submit a two to three-page report on their experiences in East Asia upon their return or blog periodically on a designated website.
