Growing an Ear
Baby Charlotte lost her ear, nose, and parts of her cheek from a raccoon attack. Her adoptive parents found a doctor to complete reconstructive surgery on her nose and cheek, but the ear required more work because there was no skin or tissue left to build from. The doctor used cartilage from her rib to form a ear then inserted it under the arm tissue to build the skin and other tissues needed for the ear.

Early ErgChatter Ideas
ErgChatter is a software that vocalizes a rowers performance on an indoor rower or SkiErg. At regular intervals, the software announces the rowers current performance data. This technology was created for people without sight, so that they can continue exercise and rowing independently without interruptions to check theirs stats or ask someone to tell them. The technology has also further developed to now being a smartphone app called ErgBuddy.

Invisible Glasses….Contacts
Glasses were created a long time ago to enhance one’s vision if it was lacking. Nowadays glasses can be seen as intertwined into one’s fashion style, but others that prefer to not wear glasses have access to a new adaptive technology. Contacts enable people to basically place the prescription of their glasses into a small hydrophillic plastic called hydrogels. This allows some people to overcome bad vision with something more lightweight than glasses.
