Functional Prototype

For our first prototype we patterned a vest from a website with drafting instructions for a three piece vest.  We used smaller measurements due to fabric constraints.  Once the patterning was complete we cut out pieces from a vibrant green material. From there we sewed the vest together, attachment points at the sleeves and sides. We also drafted 4 different pockets, cut the material and sewed the pockets. As it is a prototype, we opted to just attach the pockets to the front for a less than aesthetically pleasing, but also a less time-consuming method. The small pocket is meant to be an accordion pocket.  However, the pocket right now is just tacked on as we still have to experiment with ways to make the accordion function. Moving forward, we are buying different fabrics, most likely a waterproof jacket material (like a polyester taffeta), an athletic fabric (possibly a knit) and a basic cotton (or similar simple fabric), for different prototypes to see what works best.  All in all, we have an ugly, yet functioning first prototype.
